Trent Broadnax, who has signed to play football at Duke, wins Dearing Award

Since he burst onto the high school sports scene as a freshman at Benedictine, Trent Broadnax has been one of most versatile athletes in the state of Georgia.

On Tuesday, Broadnax was recognized for his athletic achievements as the recipient of the 68th Ashley Dearing Award, given to the top three-sport male high school athlete in Savannah.

The honor is decided on a vote by athletic directors and media members. Candidates must play football, basketball and a spring sport. Broadnax finished second to Gavin Stewart of BC in the voting last year and was second to Memorial Day’s Winston Wright as a sophomore.
