CEDAR RAPIDS — U.S. Sen. Tim Scott called on Republicans to be the “party of parents” at a sold-out Cedar Rapids event Thursday, praising Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds’ push to expand “school choice” options in the state.
Scott, a Republican from South Carolina, said Reynolds’ high-profile response to Democratic President Joe Biden’s March 1 State of the Union address “hit the ball out of the park by focusing on the future of this country.”
“She’s not talking in election cycles,” Scott said. “Kim Reynolds is talking in generations. She’s talking about transforming our country starting here with quality education in every single ZIP code,” Scott said. “I love that. I’m fighting for the same thing.”
