The left seethes at Biden’s big defense budget: ‘It’s a mistake’

Progressives have grown accustomed to being let down by the Biden administration — and now a proposed increase in Defense Department and law enforcement spending has them airing their grievances again months before the election. of 2022.

President Biden on Monday released an $813 billion funding proposal for the Department of Defense, an increase of about $30 billion from last year’s defense budget that progressives already hated. It also proposes more than $32 billion in new spending to expand law enforcement and fight crime.

A president’s budget proposal is not usually what ends up being funded, but budget proposals are seen as a way to signal an administration’s priorities over the next fiscal year.

“Budgets are statements of values,” Biden said in a statement released by the White House accompanying his 2023 wish list.
