North Carolina employees trying to force the state’s health plan to lift a blanket exclusion on paying for transgender-related medical care asked the U.S. Supreme Court to allow their case to proceed.

Maxwell Kadel and others who work for North Carolina in various capacities filed a brief urging the nation’s top court to deny review of a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit holding that the North Carolina State Health Plan for Teachers and State Employees isn’t immune from suit.
