WASHINGTON, D.C. – President-elect Joe Biden will nominate Warrensville Heights Democratic Rep. Marcia Fudge to be the next U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Politico reports, citing “two people with knowledge of the decision.”
A spokesman for Biden’s transition team did not respond to a request for comment on the report, and a spokeswoman for Fudge said she could not confirm it and was trying to reach Fudge.
“Everybody is calling about it,” said Fudge spokeswoman Denise Tolliver.
Fudge, who is a member of the House Agriculture Committee, originally sought to be Biden’s agriculture secretary, but reports from Politico and other outlets indicate that Biden is leaning toward appointing former Iowa Gov.
