Ryan Troyer tied for third place after first round of the Ohio Open – Sports – Times Reporter


MEDINA Ryan Troyer is off to a good start in his final golf tournament as a professional.

The former Garaway High School, Malone and Kent State University golfing standout is tied for third place after the opening round of the 99th Pyramid Treating/Minute Men Ohio Open on Monday.

Troyer joined three others, including Kent State head coach Jon Mills for third place at five-under 67. Amateurs Bryce Haney (Huber Heights) and Cole Corder (Beavercreek) also shot 67.

This is Troyer’s final professional golf event as he will be accepting a job from The Tuscarawas Insurance Agency.

“It has been an unbelievable ride that I will cherish forever,” said Troyer on his Facebrook account. “From the lessons I’ve learned, to the places I was blessed to travel to and the people I have met along the way that have impacted me greatly.
