Steve Bannon, the former Breitbart the president and the president of Trump’s chief strategist, warns that the Asset will “drop the hammer” on Apple if it does not work with the authorities.
Bannon is referring to the current impasse in regards to whether or not Apple should unlock the iPhones used by the shooter who killed three people at the Pensacola Naval Air Station in December.
Speaking on CNBC‘s “Squawk Box,” Bannon said that Apple should “100%” help unlock the iPhones. He believes that the relationship between Apple and President Trump will get a lot more serious if it is not consistent.
“If I were the guys at Apple, I have the attention of President Trump tweets,” Bannon said. “I would like to treat their tweets like a bubble of the pope.”
