NEW PRAGUE — New Prague scored with just seven seconds to play to rally past Century 26-20 in Big Southeast District football on Friday night.
The host Trojans (2-4) capped a drive of about 50 yards when Parker Johnson flipped a 5-yard touchdown pass to Jay Skogerboe. New Prague was trailing 20-18 at the time.
“We thought it was going to be short, but he reached it out and got it in,” Century coach Jon Vik said.
Johnson had made a big play earlier in the drive on a third-and-16 play. He was nearly sacked but he flipped an underhand pass to a running back, who raced about 25 yards inside the Century 10-yard-line.
Century led 20-12 when Johnson tossed a 44-yard TD pass with just 31 seconds left in the first half to cut the deficit to 20-18. He finished 12-for-24 passing for 210…
