Backlash After CNN’s Jake Tapper Complains Republicans Won’t Go on CNN After El Paso Shooting

CNN host Jake Tapper received backlash after complaining that Republican officials wouldn’t go on his show following mass shootings in Texas and Ohio over the weekend.

Tapper took to Twitter to air his complaint, writing that the show would feature four Democratic presidential candidates: former Obama administration Cabinet secretary Julian Castro; South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg; former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke, and Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.).

He then said that the White House had declined to have someone appear on his show, as well as Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, and Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), John Cornyn (R-Texas), and Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).

Tapper’s show later expanded to feature three additional Democratic presidential candidates, former Ohio Gov. John Kasich, a Republican, and El Paso Mayor Dee Margo, also a Republican.
