The Fort Morgan City Council approved an ordinance which would amend the city’s Municipal Code “to give the city council discretion to allow alcohol on public property under certain controlled circumstances” at their meeting.
After a public hearing on the ordinance, the council passed the measure unanimously.
Deputy City Manager/Public Information Officer/City Clerk John Brennan explained that this was not allowing general public consumption of alcohol, but “allowing on public property in certain circumstances related to a special event permit.”
“This came up several weeks ago with an inquiry by the organizers of Bobstock about the possibility of moving the beer garden in association with that event onto public property instead of the Elks parking lot, for reasons of security and safety behind the bandshell,” Brennan said.
