Since 2017, the Minnesota Ironman Bike Ride has been looking for a home, and this year, it’s coming back, and it’s coming to Shakopee.
The ride will be run by Free Bikes 4 Kidz as a part of the Big Taste of Fun event June 15.
Free Bikes 4 Kidz is an organization that collects, repairs and refurbishes used bikes and distributes them to kids who would not otherwise have access to a bicycle. The nonprofit collects up to 10,000 bicycles annually and refurbishes them over a two-month process in October and November.
“It’s good for health, well-being and focus. Everyone should have that access,” FB4K Executive Director Tia Martinson said of cycling.
