Facebook More Than Doubled Spending On Mark Zuckerberg’s Security Last Year [Infographic]


Facebook spent $22.6 million on security for chief executive Mark Zuckerberg last year, nearly double the amount spent in 2017, according to a financial filing from Friday. Zuckerberg drew a base salary of just $1 over the past three years and his “other compensation” in 2018 was listed as $22.6 million, practically all of which was allocated for his personal security. That total also includes $2.6 million for the personal use of private jets which Facebook says is part of his overall security program.

The social network endured a turbulent year in 2018 where it faced an intense public backlash over the Cambridge Analytica scandal which saw a political consultancy harvest 87 million Facebook user profiles that were used for political purposes.
