Tiger Woods’ opening two holes of the day at the 2018 PGA Championship couldn’t have gone much worse. Woods, who was paired up with major champions Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas for the opening two days, found himself near the bottom of the leaderboard at 3-over par after a disastrous bogey-double bogey start.
Woods started the day at the 10th hole, and his opening drive landed well right of the fairway. His position in the thick rough forced him to hit a 64-yard recovery shot back into the fairway, and his approach to the green gave him a difficult 37-foot par putt. He didn’t make it, and two-putted for an opening bogey.
On the very next hole, Woods found the left rough off the tee – then dropped his second shot into a water hazard guarding a tucked in pin location.
